I have just read the very interesting and moving history of Sgt John Baxter, and think it is wonderful that after all these years he is now able to get the recognition he so duly deserves. As a wife of a serving soldier myself it pleases me to see that this has been done.

I visited your Branch in 2003 while on a trip to see my mother and must say I was overly welcomed to spend a few evenings during socials and must add I was impressed with the camaraderie I experienced and also was told that my money was not good in your establishment.I presented your Branch with a few "Friendship Banners" from our MOTH Shellhole here in South Africa and can also state that the banner presented to myself is proudly displayed in our MOTH Shellhole. I wish you all the best for the future. Sadly Mother passed away shortly after our departure home.
